Hero Maker
Typically, we all want to be the hero. The problem with being the hero is you take the spotlight from others. Jesus wants us to think differently. Jesus calls us to focus on others instead of ourselves. What if we shifted our focus from being heroes to becoming hero makers. Join us as we explore what it would take to be Hero Makers.
Faith Family & Freedom
What does it mean to be free? What are we freed from? Join us as we look at freedom in the context of being a Christ follower.
Potluck Faith
You never know what you are going to get when you attend a potluck diner. The one thing you can be sure of is that you will leave full. Over the next three weeks we will be looking at different stories from the Bible and how they can fill us today. Join us for Potluck Faith.
Rely
Re·ly /rəˈlī/ - depend on with full trust or confidence
To Rely on something is to depend on it with full trust or confidence. The early church truly relied on the Holy Spirit. Peter and John healed people, Paul and Barnabas were led to Macedonia, believers came to new life in Christ. All of these feats of the Holy Spirit didn’t end with the Apostles but are still available for us today. Join us as we work through the book of Acts and see how we too can rely on the Holy Spirit.
Gospel
We are probably all familiar with the term gospel. Whether we have heard it used in church or in a statement. What is the Gospel, though? What does it mean? Why does it matter? Join us as we take a deeper look into the story of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection and how it impacts each of us even 2000 years later.
Reset
Over the past two years, we have been working through a strange time. We have gone through a pandemic, political unease, racial unrest and so much more. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we just had a reset button in our lives so that we could start over? Is it possible that in Christ we can reset our lives and live toward a better future? Is it really possible to reset and move in a new direction? Join us as we look at resetting our lives in this new year.
Fear Not
When our world is shaken, it’s easy for fear to spread. But God promises to be with us, no matter what comes our way. In times of uncertainty, it’s more important than ever to trust who God is and how He says we can live. That is the promise of Christmas: God is with us. Fear not.
Thankful
What are you thankful for? When we take time and ask ourselves this question, we soon see just how many blessings we have in our lives. We can be thankful for so many things. During this season of Thanksgiving, we are going to be recognizing those things that we are most thankful for. When we spend time reflecting on all that for which we are thankful, it can shift our perspective and allow us to see things in a different light.
The Moral of the Story
Jesus was a masterful storyteller. In fact, approximately one-third of the words of Jesus recorded in the Bible were stories. These stories are called parables; he used familiar illustrations to reveal deeper revelations. They shine a light on God's character, change our perspective, and give us practical direction.
Identity
We are bombarded with information about identity. Whether it is national identity, racial identity, or sexual identity, we search for ways to define ourselves. In a time when identity is such a hot topic, we will turn to Jesus and see what he has to say about our identity. What does it mean to be a Christian? What does Christ’s identity reveal to us?
Jesus Said What?
Jesus teaches some very difficult things in his messages. We long for the sweet Jesus who saves us but balk at some of the difficult things he calls us to do. Join us as we take a deep look at some of the difficult teachings of Jesus and what they mean for us today.
Kingdom
When we think about the word “kingdom,” there are many things that can come to mind: knights and castles, nations and armies, even board games. The Kingdom is also a theme that runs through the entirety of the Bible. God’s Kingdom concerns His power, place, people, and purpose. Join us as we look through the Bible to better understand God’s Kingdom and what it means for each of us.
Amen
Maybe you have wondered how you should pray: what you should say, how you should say it, when and how often — so many questions. Maybe you just don’t want to look dumb by praying something strange; maybe you don’t want to look dumb in front of God. Whatever the reason, we are going to take a deep dive into the Lord’s Prayer to see what it is that Jesus tells us about prayer, and hopefully open ourselves up to praying and to what prayer can do in and through us.
Mother's Day
The bible is full of examples of women who have been faithful in living and loving in a way that makes a difference. What is it to be a motherly influence on the world around us? Is it something that could make a difference if it was something we practiced?
How Sweet The Sound
In many ways, hymns are the oral history of our faith. Like the Psalms in Scripture, they are passed from generation to generation, sung in cathedrals, chapels, or around a family piano. Every generation has its anthems, and while we continue to sing to Him new songs to this day, sometimes the timeless music of our predecessors is just what the soul needs. This series will delve into history to take some of those classic, overlooked, or left-behind hymns and explore their meaning, breathing new life into their melodies to illuminate the hope they have for us today.
Love Does
Love is hard to define. It is more than an emotion but it is emotional. It is active and involved but filled with whimsy. Love moves and breathes; it takes on a life of its own. Love is not a bystander. Love is not a feeling. Love leads us to the most intimate places with the most wonderful people. Love transforms ‘what if’ into ‘let's go.’ Love overcomes. Love never gives up. Love Does.
